The Bradley Beach Borough Council has introduced an ordinance which would update regulations governing overnight parking of commercial vehicles.
If approved, parking of the following vehicles or equipment would not be permitted on borough streets between midnight and 5 a.m.:
Buses, bulldozers, tractors, cement mixers, dump trucks, tow trucks, rear dual wheeled or rack body trucks, boats, boat trailers, jet skis, trailers, campers, recreational vehicles, non-motor vehicles, or any vehicle longer than 23 feet.
In addition, commercially registered vehicles weighing in excess of 10,000 pounds would not be allowed to park overnight. All vehicles containing exposed pipes, ropes, wire, more than one exposed ladder, or other type of construction or maintenance equipment located on either the top or the sides of the vehicle would be restricted from parking between midnight and 5 a.m.
Property owners who have commercial vehicles that are registered as a car or a van under 23 feet and do not have driveways would be able to apply for a permit allowing for street parking during the restricted hours.
Parking of large commercial vehicles would not be permitted at any time in residential areas except when engaged in loading or unloading, or when work is being done on a residential property during the hours that work is being performed.
Also at its meeting earlier this week, the council approved the appointment of Freddy Fuentes as a Class I Special Officer of the Bradley Beach Police Department. Stephen LoSacco was appointed as building inspector through the end of 2019. Warren Winch was named as plumbing sub-code official through 2022.
Amanda Wheeler, Geoff Curtis, Dan Leyes, Rona Parker were appointed to the borough’s Environmental Commission through 2021.
Mayor Gary Engelstad asked for volunteers from the community to serve on a communications committee. He noted the need for coordination of the various methods now used by the borough to interact with residents and business owners.
“I hope some folks come forward who would like to help out in that effort,” he said.
